License
You will need a provisional driving licence before you can start learning to drive. You can apply online at www.direct.gov.uk or pick up a D1 form at the Post Office.
This licence allows you to legally drive on public roads as long as you are supervised by someone over 21 who has held a full/clean EC/EEA licence for at least 3 years.
This condition remains until you’ve passed your practical test.
Eyesight
This must meet a minimum standard - i.e. you should be able to read a car number plate from 20.5m.
(If not you will need to visit an optician to correct this before you can get behind the wheel).
